Interior design of a magnificent 600 m2 home in a manor building on Pau Casals Avenue, next to Barcelona’s Turó Parc. The owners, a Nordic family, wanted to refresh this large apartment, which to them, had wood floors and custom made furniture that were too dark and heavy. They also wanted to redistribute the space to accommodate a big master suite with walk-in closet and sitting area, a kitchen with an island, a children´s playroom and a gym.
The refurbishment proposes a redistribution that takes into consideration the main characteristic of the home such as the classic symmetry, the central doors and the ceiling, walls and furniture mouldings. The overall look gets lighter by tinting the parquet floor grey and lacquering the interior wood carpentries in a white satin finish. In order to solve some functional problems and offer enough storage space, the project proposes different modern clean-lined furniture units, which fit well into the decorative ambient.
The final result is a classic space that maintains its original elements, but gives off a Nordic-inspired feel through the white and grey color palette and the selection of an elegant and rather minimal contemporary furniture.
